Welcome to the Eastway Gardens community website. Ask anyone, and most will say they've never heard of Eastway Gardens. When you mention that streets have letter names, they shrug. So if you're at all curious about finding out more about this unique little slice of the city, you'll find everything you need on this website.
Nestled in a corner of Alta Vista Ward, Eastway Gardens is a small, unique neighbourhood situated about 9.5 km (6 miles) east of downtown Ottawa. It’s bordered by the Rideau River to the west, St. Laurent Blvd. to the east, Coventry Rd. to the north, and Belfast Rd. to the south. A collection of dead-end streets branch off Tremblay Road between Riverside Dr. and St. Laurent Blvd. Since most streets are alphabetically named, some residents affectionately call it “Alphabetville.”

Because there are two O-Train transit-way stations, bus routes, and the Via Rail main terminal within walking distance, Eastway Gardens is zoned as a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) area. This is rare for inner-city transit, as few neighbourhoods anywhere boast two LRT stations. For intercity travel, there aren’t many residential areas in Ontario closer to a mainline train station.
